We’re proud to offer the latest innovations in glaucoma care, including AlloFlo™. This groundbreaking bio-interventional solution enhances structural integrity within the eye without synthetic implants or hardware.
What Is AlloFlo™?
AlloFlo™ is the first of its kind: a homologous biotissue engineered specifically for precision ab-interno structural reinforcement. This advanced surgical technique strengthens internal eye structures from within without external incisions or synthetic implants.
In glaucoma surgery, ab-interno (Latin for “from within”) refers to minimally invasive procedures performed through micro-incisions inside the eye, typically using the natural drainage angle as the access point.
Unlike traditional ab-externo approaches, which require cutting through the outer layers of the eye, ab-interno techniques preserve surface anatomy and promote faster healing with fewer complications.
In this context, structural reinforcement means fortifying delicate internal tissues that have weakened, failed to heal correctly, or require additional support to restore healthy fluid dynamics.
AlloFlo™ Benefits
- Bio-Conforming Design: AlloFlo adapts to the eye’s natural structure, minimizing disruption to surrounding tissues.
- Biocompatibility: Safe and well-tolerated, with no foreign-body sensation or mechanical mismatch.
- Hydro-Permeability: Facilitates fluid exchange while supporting tissue healing and stability.
- Highly Porous Composition: Encourages integration and long-term patency without scarring or obstruction.
- No Hardware or Implants: Offers a natural, minimalist approach to internal support—ideal for patients seeking less invasive yet long-lasting outcomes.

Is AlloFlo™ Right for You?
AlloFlo™ may be recommended as part of a comprehensive glaucoma treatment plan if you:
- Have moderate to advanced glaucoma that medicine or laser treatments haven't controlled well
- Require revision of a prior glaucoma surgery, such as trabeculectomy or MIGS, due to over-filtration or tissue instability
- Have a cyclodialysis cleft, optic disc pit, or other issues that affect fluid drainage from the eye
- Need support for weakened areas from surgeries, such as sclerostomies, trabecular flaps, or other post-surgical issues.
- Are not a good candidate for or prefer to avoid synthetic implants due to your surgery history, body structure, or personal choice
Glaucoma took me by surprise. I never thought it would happen to me. Since I heard that glaucoma is hereditary, and I couldn’t think of immediate family members who had this condition. Although my diabetes has been under control for the past 12 years, my family doctor informed me that diabetes increases my chances of getting glaucoma. When my optometrist told me I had glaucoma a few months ago, he prescribed me many different eye drops that caused more pain and discomfort. Finally, I wanted to do the most extreme procedure: surgery. My eye doctor and my cousin recommended Dr. K. after she underwent LASIK surgery with him. After the procedure known as trabeculoplasty, my vision has improved, and I feel great knowing my glaucoma is finally gone. Thanks, Dr. K!

What to Expect Before, During, and After
Consultation
- You’ll undergo a thorough pre-operative evaluation, including advanced imaging and diagnostic testing to map the anatomy of your eye and plan the exact placement of the AlloFlo™ tissue
- Your surgeon will explain the procedure in detail, answer all your questions, and review your personalized surgical plan and post-operative instructions
- The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you’ll go home the same day
Procedure
- Local anesthesia with mild sedation is used to keep you relaxed and comfortable
- Your surgeon creates a micro-incision within the eye’s natural drainage angle (ab-interno approach) using specialized instrumentation
- AlloFlo™ bio-tissue is carefully positioned to support and stabilize the targeted internal structure, such as a trabecular flap, sclerostomy, or uveoscleral outflow channel
- No synthetic hardware or external sutures are used, and the natural tissues are left largely undisturbed
Recovery
- You’ll be monitored in a comfortable recovery area before being released to go home the same day
- Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can resume light activities within a few days
- Post-operative care typically includes medicated eye drops and scheduled follow-up visits to monitor healing and intraocular pressure
- Because AlloFlo is biocompatible and hydro-permeable, healing is generally smooth with a low risk of inflammation or scarring
