Billy Pan, M.D. is a USC and Harvard trained glaucoma specialist and refractive cataract surgeon. As a board-certified ophthalmologist, he offers exceptional personalized eye care, with a focus on comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and glaucoma management. As a glaucoma specialist, he has been trained extensively in the latest minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, as well as traditional trabeculectomies and glaucoma drainage implants for advanced and complex cases.

 Dr. Pan is well-published in numerous peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals, and his work has been presented nationally and internationally. He continues to be actively involved in clinical trials involving investigational glaucoma devices and glaucoma therapeutics. Dr. Pan has won numerous accolades and is recognized by Southern California Super Doctors, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, and Marquis Who's Who in America. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and conversational in medical Spanish. 

Background and History

Billy Pan, MD, obtained both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Southern California (USC). During medical school, he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society, and awarded the Order of Areté – the highest honor accorded to graduate students of USC. He then went on to pursue his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Los Angeles County, University of Southern California (LAC-USC) / Roski Eye Institute.

Clinical and surgical excellence: Dr. Pan

During his training, Dr. Pan excelled both clinically and surgically and was appointed to be Chief Resident during his final year. After residency, he moved to Boston to pursue a glaucoma fellowship with Dr. Louis Pasquale at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. While at Harvard, Dr. Pan was named the Richard J. Simmons and Ruthanne B. Simmons Glaucoma Fellow, an award that honors a legacy of academic excellence.
