Glaucoma in Beverly Hills is a fairly common eye problem that develops as a result of damage to the optic nerve. In most cases, this is caused by an unusually high amount of pressure in the eye, and is one of the leading causes of blindness and vision loss in individuals older than 60 years of age. Often setting in with little to no warning, the effects can be quite gradual, and might not even be noticed until they have become relatively advanced.

Narrow-angle glaucoma can be treated with a procedure known as peripheral iridotomy, which we offer here at the Beverly Hills Institute of Ophthalmology. If you’re experiencing vision issues as a result of narrow-angle glaucoma, reach out and set up a consultation at our Beverly Hills or Torrance, California office today. We’ll come up with a treatment plan to help restore your vision, and your quality of life along with it.

Narrow-Angle Glaucoma

What Are the Symptoms?

One of the most frustrating aspects of this particular type of glaucoma is that it can actually be fairly easy to miss the symptoms until they’ve become somewhat advanced. Among the most common symptoms that come along with narrow-angle glaucoma are:

  • Eye pain
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Blurry vision
  • Halos around light
  • Redness in the eye

Prevent and Treat Narrow-Angle Glaucoma in Minutes

The YAG PI Laser is used to perform a peripheral iridotomy, which is a treatment for a specific type of glaucoma called narrow-angle glaucoma. The surgeon uses the YAG PI Laser to create a small hole at the edge of the iris (the colored part of your eye). This improves the flow of fluid (aqueous humor) through the eye’s internal drainage system. Sometimes this lowers IOP, but the primary goal of this procedure is to reduce the risk of narrow-angle glaucoma.
